Carrie Frances Fisher[1] (October 21, 1956 – December 27, 2016) was an American actress, writer, producer, and humorist. She was the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. Fisher was known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars film series. Her other film roles included Shampoo (1975), The Blues Brothers (1980), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The 'Burbs (1989), and When Harry Met Sally... (1989).[2]

Fisher wrote several semi-autobiographical novels, including Postcards from the Edge, the screenplay for the film of the book, an autobiographical one-woman play, and a non-fiction book, Wishful Drinking, based on the play. She worked on other writers' screenplays as a script doctor.[3] In later years, she earned praise for speaking publicly about her experiences with bipolar disorder and drug addiction.[4]

Fisher died at the age of 60 on December 27, 2016, four days after experiencing a medical emergency on a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles.[5] One day later, her mother Debbie Reynolds died.

'Rogue One' on target for $140 million opening weekend | Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Like the rebels in the Death Star trench run, Disney is hoping that "Rogue One" can "stay on target" this weekend. It's been doing that so far.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" brought in $71 million at the domestic box office for its opening day on Friday. The film's Thursday night $29 million total is rolled into that number.
It's a solid start for the new film, but "Rogue One" still came up short of the record $119 million that last year's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" brought in for its opening day.
"Rogue One" is on pace for roughly a $140 million to possibly $150 million opening weekend, according to Disney (DIS). That would make it the second biggest "Star Wars" opening ever and one of the biggest debuts of the year.
